Wednesday was exhausting but great fun. I’d been awake at 4am thinking about the first prototype of the site and really excited about sharing it with the children.
I had a plan: which sort of went like this:
Organise thursday am – Anne and Creative Crew meeting
Mr Keen – logins and verification of new accounts (to create in particular posterous blogs)
Children to start day by welcome pages on the wall..
Colour for sections – learn about RGB/256 palettes print out, IA schematic print out
Tree and leaf images from craft work.. eg leaves made etc, paintings, beautiful tissue paper pictures in breakfast room?
Work with the photography team to establish needs:
– pictures of St Mark and the disciples (school hall)
– pictures of the griffin/lion (outside the school, on playground walls etc – inventory of brand assets)
Faraway Tree blog
– stories children might want to read inside it.
– work in progress.. picture galleries to Flickr
Create a video tour
Pictures of art and craft assets and post to Flickr gallery
School trips – any assets available?
Well – some of this got done.. In fact I had my web team group of children with me most of the morning and whilst the planned activities didn’t really get done, we did get to have some fun,, get some really good pictures and crucially, get them engaged and playing with the prototype.
I created a Contact page with an interactive Google map which kept a group of children occupied for at least an hour, exploring the area around them – switching from map to satellite view, looking for their streets – going elsewhere. Important one that – bearing it in mind for how the overall architecture shapes up.
One of the team was really interested in ideas and so we created an ideas board and she kept the momentum going – here’s a pic of the ideas she generated and gathered from others.. (i gave her some help to cluster the ideas):
I had still to gather these:
James to create:
– Flickr galleries (grab RSS urls)
– Posterous for:
– Google calendars
By the end of the day we’d taken stacks of phots, got more interviews come up with lots more ideas and were generally in flow state. I had to head off to London at 3pm to present with my group on my MA.
